Bread and dairy product prices increased the most in September
Data by the Central Statistical Office (KSH) reveal: consumer prices elevated by 20.1% in August 2022, in comparison with August 2021. In one month prices became 4.1% higher on average. Food prices climbed 35.2% in comparison with July 2021.
Bread cost 76.2% more, the price of cheese increased by 68%, dairy products, butter and dairy spreads became 66.3% more expensive, and we had to pay 61.2% more for margarine. Alcoholic drink and tobacco product prices increased by 13.2%. Compared with July 2022, food prices were up 3.5%.
