Coffee helps if you do too much sedentary work
According to recent research, regular coffee consumption can reduce the health risks that can arise from sitting for long periods of time. A study published by ScienceAlert, which involved 10,000 Americans, offers new hope for those who spend several hours a day in an office chair or on the couch.
The research was carried out by a team from Suzhou University in China, with American assistance. Scientists have been looking for an answer to how coffee can counteract the long-term health consequences of a sedentary lifestyle. According to the results, regular coffee drinkers were 1.58 times less likely to die over the next 13 years than non-coffee drinkers.
This beneficial effect can be felt even after drinking a cup of coffee a day, which is especially important for those who sit for up to 8 hours a day. A sedentary lifestyle can cause a number of known health problems, such as increasing the risk of developing cardiovascular disease and type 2 diabetes. The exact mechanism behind coffee’s potential protective effect remains unknown, although previous research has attributed various health-protective effects to caffeine.
