Kaufland Bulgaria Invests €11m To Upgrade Stores
The project includes a number of improvements on existing facilities and the implementation of technological innovations, Kaufland said.
The retailer is giving priority to solutions aimed at improving the overall customer experience and reducing the company’s environmental impact.
The latest project to be completed involved an estimated investment of BGN 2 million (€1 million) in the installation of new refrigeration equipment in the Kaufland Haskovo hypermarket.
All installations in Kaufland Haskovo are now low-emission and operate with a refrigerant that is almost 4,000 times more environmentally friendly than the previous version, according to the retailer.
The new equipment offers a significant improvement in the storage of goods and the protection of the environment.
Energy-Efficient Solutions
The refrigeration installations are more than 30% more energy efficient compared to the previous ones, resulting in savings of around 500,000 kWh of electricity per year.
The upgrade will also save around 250 tonnes of carbon emissions annually, which is equivalent to the emissions from around 100 cars on an annual basis.
In addition to completely improved energy efficiency, the renovated hypermarket in Haskovo embodies Kaufland’s innovative One Stop Shopping concept. Each customer can make their daily or weekly shopping with a choice of nearly 20,000 items, as well as visit the other stores that are part of the hypermarket.
