Coca-Cola presents its first Christmas mini-series and with it its new creative platform “Real Magic Presents”
Under the umbrella of “Real Magic Presents”, the brand’s new films are made in a different format than usual and all present stories that celebrate human relationships, dressed in magic.
The mini-series “Christmas Always Finds You” was Coca-Cola’s first Christmas film production and was realized thanks to the creative collaboration of world-class talents and professionals. Available today on Prime Video, the series consists of three short films created by Academy Award-winning filmmakers Brian Grazer and Ron Howard’s Imagine Entertainment studio. “Through »Real Magic Presents«, Coca-Cola continues the promise of the “Real Magic” platform launched in 2021, which means “Open to wonder” in Hungarian, which involves the brand’s fans on even more channels and wants to establish an even closer relationship with them, through more innovative experiences,” said Selman Careaga, global president of the Coca-Cola™ category. “Christmas has always been a special time for Coca-Cola. This year, we are excited to embark on new paths with our mini-series, with which we not only celebrate the history of the brand, but we also want to open it up to an ever wider audience,” he added.
The miniseries is written by the award-winning directors of the production company PRETTYBIRD, Vellas (Brazil), JB Braud (France) and Alex Buono (USA)
Although each film takes place on a different continent, their main message is the same: they show the extraordinary power of Christmas, which can create both real and magical human relationships.
The 12-minute long film Alma takes place in a Mexican city where Christmas decorations are produced all year round for all parts of the world. However, something special has to happen in the otherwise famous city for its residents to feel the magic of Christmas again. The short film was directed by the multiple award-winning Brazilian director Vellas, who is considered one of the most successful Brazilian commercial filmmakers and who is currently working on a Latin American Netflix series.
The 10-minute long Christmas Bites is a comedy about an American vampire who meets his girlfriend’s parents for the first time, and then we can also find out what happens when he first comes face to face with his eternal enemy, Santa Claus. The film was directed by Academy Award and Emmy Award nominee Alex Buono, whose work has already been critically acclaimed for directing the second season of The Endless Matryoshka, Hulu’s gonzo sci-fi action comedy Future Man and Comedy Central’s Detroiters.
The 11-minute long Les Petits De Noël (Hungarian: Little Christmas) is a romantic love story about a former couple living in Paris who work side by side in a record store and a bookstore. The two people find each other again while decorating the holiday windows of their stores. The film’s Parisian director, JB Braud, previously won critical acclaim with his film In the Still Night (2019), and he made A Festők (Le Peintre, 2021) for Apple’s Shot on iPhone campaign.
“‘Real Magic Presents’ is an extension of the core message of the ‘Open to Miracle’ platform, which aims to bring to life through stories the magic that surrounds us all, that lies in a completely ordinary, yet truly human moment,” said Pratik Thakar of Coca -Global creative strategy and content manager at Cola. “From a creative perspective, Christmas is the perfect canvas for storytelling. We were delighted to collaborate with the team at Imagine Entertainment to create our first miniseries, which emphasizes the importance of human connection and the power of the soul. We look forward to working with even more talented writers, filmmakers and producers within the framework of »Real Magic Presents«, so that we can open up to the miracle with even more stories!” said Pratik Thakar.
“Coca-Cola is also trying to create a quality relationship with viewers this holiday season, so we are happy to provide an impeccable experience that will allow them to reach many viewers around the world,” said Tanner Elton, Amazon Ads’ US vice president of sales. “From branded content on Fire TV and IMDb, to unique Amazon Fresh bags, to European Twitch broadcasts, there are many ways for customers to discover these wonderful short films on Prime Video. This collaboration exemplifies the new forms of entertainment content creation and the increasingly advanced and rich possibilities of audience engagement.”
The Christmas series was developed and produced by Coca-Cola, under the leadership of its Latin American team, in cooperation with WPP’s OpenX
Imagine Entertainment, in collaboration with PRETTYBIRD, collaborated with acclaimed filmmakers from around the world on the episodes. Marc Gilbar, Vice President of Brands at Imagine Entertainment, said: “At Imagine, we’ve always looked for exciting brands to tell memorable and meaningful stories with. Coca-Cola is uniquely authentic in the entertainment industry, deeply connected to Christmas and around the world. is present, so he proved to be the perfect partner to bring these three wonderful stories to life together.”
“It’s that time of year when we can’t get enough of holiday movies. So, with the help of three amazing directors, we’ve created a series that’s filled with all the emotions of the holiday season, all wrapped up in beautiful, unexpected storytelling. Who else but Coke would know to give the world new magical stories just in time for the season?” – said Javier Campopiano, Global Creative Director of OpenX, part of WPP.
Coca-Cola’s mini-series “Christmas Always Finds You” can be seen on YouTube and Prime Video from December 7.
