National food inspection ordered for GMO-content products
Rural Development Minister Sándor Fazekas ordered a comprehensive nationwide food inspection aimed at uncovering products containing GMO's.
The expert pointed out that the Central Agricultural Office would oversee the strict inspection of food at warehouses and grocery stores in Hungary, moreover the office would take resolute action to eliminate any uncovered irregularities. The Ministry's statement noted that EU regulations do not ban food containing GMOs, though do stipulate that GMO content must be clearly displayed on food labels. GMO seeds are banned in Hungary – MTI reports.
