Johnnie Walker walks hand in hand with MyForest towards a greener future
Johnnie Walker, as part of its commitment to reducing its carbon footprint and protecting the natural resources used to make its award-winning whiskeys, is removing the gift box from some of its product portfolio, and the remaining amount will be used for tree planting and afforestation across Europe. The large-scale project, which is considered a pioneer in the industry and even beyond, will be implemented in Hungary together with MyForest, with the help of the foundation fighting to double the forests on earth, around 5,000 tree seedlings will be planted in Hungary during the fall.
Johnnie Walker, one of the most popular Scotch whiskey brands with a 200-year history, removes paper gift boxes from its products as part of its commitment to sustainability and reducing the waste produced, the production and recycling of which requires energy and resources and causes many environmental problems. The project, which pushes the boundaries of the industry, is the first step in the ambitious and diverse sustainability program, which aims to minimize environmentally friendly production and packaging, and is also an important milestone in the action plan of the brand’s distributor, Diageonak Society 2030.

Eliminating the gift boxes is only the first step in the large-scale sustainability program by which we will make our entire production carbon dioxide neutral by 2030 and operate 100% of our distilleries with green energy.
