An epidemic and a customs war hit the Chinese pig market
African swine fever has emerged in one of China’s largest pig farms, seriously endangering the country’s supply chain – agrarszektor.hu wrote. The production of the Asian country is expanding at a daunting pace, and this year the creation of self-sufficiency has come to a close proximity. But they did not count with the combined impact of the epidemic and the customs war.
Since 1 August, the China Veterinary and Epidemiological Center has reported the outbreak of African swine fever almost every day. In the case, reported on 19 August, 88 dead pigs and 615 animals with signs of disease were found. One third of the country’s total pig population is in danger. (agrarszektor.hu)
