Exports of shell eggs rose by 58 percent
According to data from the European Commission, the packing point price of table eggs in the EU was 224 euros/100 kilograms in the first nineteen weeks of 2024, 13 percent below the value of the same period of the previous year.
According to the data of AKI PÁIR, the packing point price of table eggs (M+L) from cage keeping in Hungary was HUF 53.45/piece in the first nineteen weeks of 2024, which was 18.4 percent below the average price of the same period in 2023. The packing point price of table eggs (M+L) from deep-laying was HUF 61.44/piece in the first nineteen weeks of 2024, which is 15.8 percent lower than the average price for the same period of 2023.
Based on KSH data, Hungary bought 5.4 thousand tons of shell eggs (+11 percent) from the international market in the first two months of 2024
Within this, it delivered almost 50 percent more, 3.6 thousand tons of fresh eggs. The export of shell eggs increased by 58 percent to 2.9 thousand tons, while the export of fresh eggs decreased by 22 percent to 206 tons between January and February 2024 compared to the same period of the previous year.
