Counterfeiting threatens the economy of the EU
Intellectual property rights (IPR) related industries are increasingly threatened by organized crime, producing and selling counterfeit products – the notice of the National Board Against Counterfeiting (HENT) warns. The notice was sent to MTI on Friday.
Intellectual property rights (IPR) related industries make up the backbone of the EU economy: about 40 percent of the total economic output (4,700 billion euros), and 90 percent of exports to third countries are coming from this field. The sector also provides, directly or indirectly about 35 percent of jobs in the EU, ie approximately 77 million jobs. (MTI)
