The project entitled “Support for Fisheries Control and Monitoring” aims to modernize the control and monitoring system of the sector. The development is being implemented with the co-financing of the European Maritime, Fisheries and Aquaculture Fund and the national budget, with a total grant of HUF 1,495,600,000. The implementation period will run from 1 December 2024 to 31 December 2029.
The project with the identification number MAHOP Plusz-1.1.1-24-2024-00001 focuses on the development of a new fish and fish product traceability IT system, which is partly based on the further development of the existing system
During the project, Nébih also plans to implement a new system, the aim of which is to digitally cover the entire value chain from fish production to fish trading points. The digital development system will help producers and traders reduce administrative burdens and improve the efficiency of official controls. The control and monitoring project to be implemented under the MAHOP Plusz Operational Programme pays special attention to the various stages of the entire value chain, primarily the control of production and processing points. It also places emphasis on the prevention of animal health challenges, with particular regard to preventing infections resulting from uncontrolled fish stocking. The new inspection tools, software and training to be purchased as part of the project will increase the efficiency of on-site inspections, thereby providing significant assistance in curbing illegal fish trade. The efficiency of the program will be increased by the IT development implemented in the project, which will raise the digital inspection of the Hungarian fish farming sector to a new level, facilitating the fulfillment of EU regulatory expectations.
