Bocskai Fishing Ltd. from Hajdúszoboszló received support to preserve the rich wildlife of the fish ponds

According to Ferenc Horváth, their fishing company farms an area of ​​460 hectares near Hajdúszoboszló on extensive, circular fish ponds.

Our average annual fish production is 550 tons, of which an average of 400 tons of edible fish are sold annually, the rest is one- and two-summer stock. 40 percent of their production is sold to fishing organizations, 30 percent is exported, primarily to Romania – he indicated, adding that 20 percent of the fish produced reaches consumers mainly through the continuous supply of fish shops and direct sales. A further 10 percent will be sold to fish processors, he said.

The support received in the tender will contribute to the maintenance of natural values, the protection of biodiversity and the achievement of climate protection goals during the four-year implementation period of the project, the managing director informed. He indicated that during the project they intend to preserve the good environmental condition of the lakes, and as a food-rich wetland, they will ensure the diverse wildlife they maintain in the fish ponds.

Ferenc Horváth also told MTI that their sales revenue in 2024 was 475 million forints, in 2025 it was 503 million forints, and their plan for this year is 520 million forints. The profit after tax of Halászati ​​Kft. was 48 million forints in 2024, their expected profit in 2025 will be 50 million forints, and this year’s plan is 60 million forints – he explained.
