Corporate social responsibility is a strategy which represents a commitment to certain causes. For SIÓ-ECKES, the safe and healthy lifestyle of children has been such a cause for several years. We asked Györgyi Nagy, their PR consultant about their program. – What are the objectives of your program? – Our Thank You, SIÓ! program helps children from poor families in getting the things they need in school. Our initiative is also supported by Tetra Pak, the ministry of education and Ápisz. Apart from the Thank You, SIÓ! Schoolbag program, we also support foundations which promote the healthy nutrition and development of children. We are also committed to the protection of our environment with projects like our “Ride a bike to work” initiative. – How do you measure the usefulness of your program? – Our objective is to support as many people as possible and also to direct our donations where these are most needed. In terms on numbers, this translates into the number of organisations and families we support. – How is this activity linked to your brand communication and do you measure the profit generated by such programs? – The Thank You, SIÓ! program is communicated on 1,5 litre products and POS materials. We use special channels to reach organisations which represent people in need. Generating profit is not the main objective of our CSR activities. is not generating profit. – What effect does the crisis have on your programs and plans? – Our CSR programs are not effected by the crisis. For us, responsibility means a long term commitment. The number of families qualifying for support by our schoolbag program is to increase drastically in 2009. We will not reduce our CSR budget.
