Exporters are riding on the back of the weak Forint
Compared with the same period one year earlier, in August 2011 the value of export and import expanded by 8 percent. In August we exported in the value of HUF 1,747 billion and imported for HUF 1,613 billion. Our foreign trade balance was in the positive with a surplus of HUF 134 billion – up 11 billion from one year earlier. Food, beverage and tobacco product export was up 3 percent and import climbed 10 percent. However, we exported 10 percent less cereals and cereal products and 3 percent less fruits and vegetables. The importing of livestock, tea, spices and meat/meat products increased dynamically.
