DIW’s business cycle barometer slowdown indicates economic growth in Germany
According to the Deutsches Institut für Wirtschaftsforschung e.V. (DIW Berlin), the business cycle barometer fell to 105.2 points in the fourth quarter, from 122.0 points in the third quarter, which showed quarterly GDP growth of around 6 percent.
The value in the first quarter was 87.1 points, which fell to a record low of 43.5 points in the second quarter. The 100-point value of the index indicates a “neutral” state, corresponding to roughly 0.3 percent quarterly GDP growth. (MTI)
