Farmers can continue to count on the government’s help in everything

The competition is a great opportunity to draw attention to the manual dexterity, diligence and perseverance of tractor drivers in a playful way, as machine operators also have a peak work load in the fields during the autumn harvest. The State Secretary emphasized at the event that tractors are essential for successful agricultural production. The knowledge of machine operators makes Hungarian agriculture competitive. The farmers of Karcag are excellent at their profession, which they have proven year after year, despite the extraordinary drought that has hit the region. By conserving water, storing it in the landscape and soil, and irrigating it, they have done everything they can to ensure that our country’s food supply is not endangered despite climate change. Producers can count on the help of the Government of Hungary even in times of greatest challenge, because we are allies of each other. It is reassuring to see that agricultural subsidies are being put to good use and utilized appropriately, added Imre Hubai.

The civil initiative started in 2012 in the city of Karcag with the aim of creating a tradition, which has since grown to national and even international significance. In his welcoming speech, Imre Hubai highlighted that there is no greater joy than when we sow a seed or plant a seedling and, as a reward for our careful, nurturing work, the plants sprout. The sight of a beautiful flower, a vegetable or even fruit grown with our own hands is eye-catching. And it is a heart-warming feeling that the love of nature and the knowledge related to cultivating the land are passed down from generation to generation in a family. In addition, it is also good to experience that small gardens are no longer only in the courtyards of houses, but also appear in kindergartens, schools and on the balconies of multi-story buildings. This shows that the cultivation of commercial gardens has become a real movement in our country and in the entire Carpathian Basin – emphasized the State Secretary. In his speech, Imre Hubai also mentioned that those who received recognition at the award ceremony can also inspire future generations, since with diligence anything can be achieved at any time. Furthermore, they draw attention to how a garden can be cultivated in an exemplary and sustainable manner, without chemicals, in a bird-friendly way, with plant protection that helps protect pollinators, with organic nutrients made from natural ingredients, and with water retention. This activity keeps people fresh not only physically, but also mentally, and in addition to physical health, mental health can be preserved. Gardeners perform a particularly important activity, contributing to the maintenance of our food sovereignty, therefore the government is trying to appreciate and support this irreplaceable knowledge and experience as much as possible by all means – emphasized the State Secretary.
