The farmers and the government are each other’s strategic partners
Farmers’ interests must be protected because Brussels betrayed the producers, because the EU leaders did not protect the European agricultural markets against Ukrainian agricultural products, said Minister of Agriculture István Nagy Pápán at the forum organized as part of the agricultural country tour on Tuesday.
At the event, the minister drew attention to the fact that European agriculture has never been so imbued with extreme green ideologies as it is now. The Green Deal represents a significant additional burden for farmers, and Brussels did not protect producers’ markets against Ukrainian agricultural products flowing into the Union. The Hungarian government introduced the import ban precisely for this reason, he added.
The minister emphasized that in our country, the actors of the sector are supported with historic amounts of resources
This year, the HUF 2,900 billion funds will be used for the benefit of the Hungarian countryside, agriculture and food production, and the government will add another HUF 2,300 billion to the HUF 600 billion EU leg by 2027. According to István Nagy, in the meantime, you can’t forget about liquidity support tools either. That is why the Agrár Széchenyi Kártya MAX+ scheme, supported by high state interest subsidies, was introduced in view of the financing needs of agriculture. The head of the ministry also spoke about the fact that the challenges faced by agriculture and the food industry can be answered with the implementation of developments and investments. Thanks to the resources, the processing industry can be renewed, but it is also possible to apply for the establishment of livestock farms, storage facilities and dryers. István Nagy encouraged the present farmers to establish producer cooperations.
