The demand for grain combines decreased the most
Individual farms and cooperatives bought HUF 89.5 billion worth of new agricultural machinery and tools in the period January-June 2024, which was 49 percent less than the turnover of a year earlier. In the same period, nearly HUF 41 billion were spent on parts, which is a 6 percent decrease compared to the base period.
Despite the significant decline, agricultural producers continued to spend the most money on the purchase of power machinery, which accounted for 56 percent of the total value of agricultural machinery investments. Within the total sales, among the control machines, tractors represented 33 percent, and grain harvesters 11 percent.
The most important segment of the agricultural machinery market is the tractor, of which there is an ample domestic selection
In the first half of 2024, 491 fewer, i.e. 864 new wheeled tractors worth HUF 28.7 billion, were updated from the well-known Western, Central-Eastern European and Far-Eastern brands. The sales of self-propelled loaders in the first six months of 2024 were 29 percent below the sales of the base period, within which there was still a significant demand for telescopic boom loaders.
The largest “fall” affected the grain harvester market: it fell by 73 percent
The turnover of irrigation machines exceeded the sales of a year earlier by 65 percent, in the first six months of 2024 linear, rotary system, reel drum and drip irrigation equipment were sold for HUF 5.4 billion, while in the same period of 2023 they were sold for HUF 3.3 billion.
