The rise in the price of cereals has pushed up purchase prices
In April, the average purchase price of agricultural products was 15.5 percent higher than a year before; the prices of crop and horticultural products were driven by rising prices of cereals and industrial crops, which have risen by 23.3 percent since April last year, according to data available on the website of the Central Statistical Office (KSH).
Live animal prices were 3.0 percent lower on average, due to a 17.3 percent drop in the purchase price of slaughter pigs. The price of animal products was 7.0 percent higher, but within this, the purchase price of milk increased by 4.9 percent and that of eggs by only 0.9 percent, while the price of so-called other animal products increased by 38.2 percent.
