Froneri acquires Alpin 57 Lux, one of the largest Romanian ice cream producers

Froneri acquires one of the largest Romanian ice cream manufacturers, Alpin 57 Lux – profit.ro reported.

British Froneri, one of the largest global ice cream manufacturers, is acquiring the current owner of Alpin 57 Lux, the Lithuanian Food Union. In addition to the Romanian market, Food Union is present in the Danish, Norwegian, Latvian and Estonian markets. The parties did not disclose the value of the transaction.

Alpin 57 Lux SRL was established in 1994 as a family business and was acquired by Food Union in 2016. Production takes place in Szászsebes, Southern Transylvania. The company had 480 employees in 2024 and achieved a pre-tax profit of 1,843 million lei (141,413 million forints) on sales of 153.438 million lei (11.773 billion forints).

Froneri, which employs around 12,000 people globally, has been present in Romania since 2016. Froneri Ice Cream Romania SRL achieved a pre-tax profit of 8,747 million lei (671,157 million forints) on sales of 98.589 million lei (7.564 billion forints) last year.
