The source of fresh and safe products
József Surányi, the head of METRO’s quality assurance department says: – Our major goal is providing partners with quality, fresh products. Our customers can be sure that fresh food products (vegetables, fruits, meats) form Hungary are transported from growers/manufacturers to buyers in 22 hours. In addition to the HACCP risk assessment system, METRO also developed its own food safety system, regularly checking and testing food products in the stores, in terms of temperature, date of expiry, microbiological status or ingredients.
METRO also maintains close ties with more than 10 accredited laboratories. The company also expects suppliers to comply with food safety regulations and requires major partners to acquire IFS, Globalgap or BRC certifications. In the case of smaller suppliers it is METRO’s own auditors that evaluate compliance. All METRO employees are dedicated to guaranteeing food safety and quality – and this they prove in stores every day.
