Fresh and frozen Hungarian vegetables are becoming increasingly popular in Europe
The Lidl Magyarország exported 6000 tonnes of frozen vegetables and 1,050 truckloads of fresh vegetables and fruits this year. In terms of frozen products it is an almost one and a halffold increase compared to last year. At fresh products, the amount almost doubled, compared to the same period of last year – the datas of Lidl show. The Hungarian watermelon exports show a significant increase as well.
This year, the Lidl exports about 6,000 tons of frozen vegetables, which is a 43 percent increase, compared to the 4200 tonnes of the previous year. Among these products 23 kinds of products of four Hungarian suppliers can be found, that are transported to eight different European countries through the department store chain. The most popular products are green peas, sweet corn and various mixtures of vegetables. The largest markets are Romania, the Czech Republic and Croatia.
