Measures against the “biggest sinners”

Authorities in New York are very serious about health issues and implement very strict measures, especially when elections are coming. These strict measures are usually aimed at the catering sector, like in many other countries. New York had been the first city in the US to introduce a total ban on smoking and restaurants have now been compelled to list the calorie content of each dish on the menu. Although an appeal has been filed, the chances are that this regulation will stay in effect. Restaurants found to be in breach of this regulation can be fined up to USD 2000.
