The key to sustainable economic recovery is the energy renovation of the building stock
The energy efficiency modernization of domestic residential buildings represents an economic growth opportunity, a socially supported investment direction and a climate protection step. As a member of the professional association coordinated by the Egyensúly Institute, K&H Bank takes an active role in ensuring that Hungary’s building energy renovation program is implemented in a sustainable and fair manner in the long term.
In addition to the K&H Group, more than a dozen professional organizations joined the consultation coordinated by the Egyensúly Institute, within the framework of which the association presented a package of proposals to government representatives. The goal: to establish minimum requirements that ensure long-term predictability and systemic efficiency for building renovation programs.
Social and economic benefits, along professional consensus
According to the proposal package, the basis of the sustainable building renovation program is plannability and predictability: with annually announced budgets, simplified administration, the possibility of phased deep renovation and differentiated forms of support. The document also places special emphasis on the spread of heat pump heating, the involvement of people living in extreme poverty, and the development of green loans and advisory networks.
Green revitalization of the economy
The government actors participating in the meeting – including senior officials from the Ministry of Construction and Transport and the Ministry of Energy – agreed that building energy modernization plays a key role in terms of energy efficiency, climate policy and job creation. With the introduction of the new EKR system, state and market resources spent on the renovation of residential buildings could reach up to 300 billion forints annually.
