DS Smith and Coca-Cola replace unit packaging plastic carrying tabs with ‘DS Smith Lift Up’ packaging innovation
DS Smith, a leading global sustainable packaging company, and Coca-Cola are replacing the plastic carrying handles of unit packaging with the ‘DS Smith Lift Up’ corrugated packaging innovation.
DS Smith PLC, a leading global sustainable packaging manufacturing company, and Coca Cola HBC Austria, in cooperation, are replacing the plastic carrying tabs of 1.5-liter PET soft drink packaging with corrugated paper-based packaging. This new plastic replacement solution will be delivered to Austrian supermarkets from September 2023.
The innovative DS Smith Lift Up packaging solution is a corrugated paper carrier that is 100% recyclable and makes the delivery of the package more convenient for consumers. The solution based on kraft paper and corrugated paper can reduce the amount of plastic used by Coca-Cola HBC Austria by around 200 tons per year thanks to the efficient design and the cooperation of other partners.
