Increased demand for pricier teas
We buy more than HUF 13-billion worth of tea every year and retail sales augmented 2 percent in the December 2010-May 2011 period, while volume sales did not change – reports the Nielsen Retail Index. Consumers bought more from expensive tea varieties: green and real fruit teas – plus herbal teas – make up for more than half of the market in terms of volume as well. Retail channels: 61 percent of value sales were realised in 400m² and bigger stores. Manufacturer brands are very strong, last year they had an 89-percent markets share (a year earlier this proportion was 92 percent).
