The Ministry of Economic Development draws attention to the rules of student work
The Ministry of Economic Development’s announcement on Monday draws attention to the regulations regarding the work of students.
According to the Labor Code, the general rule is that anyone over 16 can take up work. An employment relationship can be established with a written employment contract, which must include the basic salary and the job title. Under the age of 18, a parent’s written consent is also required to work and enter into a contract. The establishment of the employment relationship must be reported to the tax authority no later than before starting work.
In the case of simplified employment, in the case of agricultural and tourism seasonal work, a legal relationship may be established with the same employer for a maximum of 120 working days per year, in the case of casual work for a maximum of five consecutive days, at the same time for a maximum of 15 days within a month, and a maximum of 90 days per year. The legal relationship is established by the employer’s notification to the tax authority. In this case, it is not mandatory to conclude an employment contract, but the employee can request that the contract be put in writing. Special rules apply to young people, they cannot work at night, nor can extraordinary working hours be ordered, their daily working hours can be a maximum of 8 hours, 6 hours for employees under the age of 16 – pointed out the GFM.
