Diageo is also present on Sziget and encourages responsible drinking
One of the highlights of the summer festival season is the Sziget Festival, where awareness is increasingly emphasized in addition to musical experiences. Diageo, one of the world’s leading alcoholic beverage manufacturers and distributors, has been a committed partner of one of Europe’s largest music festivals for years and is actively working to ensure that responsible alcohol consumption is not just a campaign slogan, but a series of real decisions. DRINKiQ Oasis offers the opportunity to stop, rest, and refill your bottle, and even provides educational content to help you get the most out of the festival – all while respecting your limits.
At summer parties and festivals, not only are the musical experiences spinning at maximum speed, but our bodies are also exposed to extreme stress. The combination of daytime heat, dancing until dawn, alcoholic beverages, and little sleep can easily upset the balance of our bodies. That’s why it’s important to consciously pay attention to ourselves and our body’s signals. Let’s look at some important concepts and simple tips that can help you prepare for a wild party and stay healthy!
Cool down! – Temperature vs. Feeling hot
Festival goers often feel hotter than the thermometer shows – and this is no coincidence. There can be a significant difference between the temperature and the heat perceived by the body, i.e. the feeling of heat, especially when the humidity is high, there is no air movement and the body is exposed to direct sunlight. 35°C can feel like 40°C in such a situation, which strains circulation, accelerates dehydration and increases fatigue. After the heat, many people crave a quick, refreshing shower – but a sudden cold can have the opposite effect on the body. In extreme heat, the body’s blood vessels dilate, and the blood circulation switches to “summer mode” – in this case, ice water can shock the circulation, lead to a sudden drop in blood pressure or even nausea.
Expert tip: Refreshment should be gradual! Use lukewarm water, cool yourself down gradually – for example, through your wrists, the back of your neck. A damp cloth, water spray, or resting in the shade are also gentle ways to reduce body temperature. In the Sziget area, look for the DRINKiQ Oasis located not far from the entrance, where you can relax, fill your bottle with water, and learn about the principles of safe alcohol consumption. If you don’t have a bottle or towel with you, don’t worry, you can get them here too.
