Rethinking packaging at the time of an e-commerce boom
In the 2nd quarter of 2020 online FMCG sales surged by 47 percent. If retailers want to keep up with this growth speed, they must utilise efficient packaging solutions. Webshippy, one of Hungary’s biggest fulfilment logistics service providers, has realised that they needed to improve packaging designs to reduce packaging time and costs in order to be able to satisfy both the increased demand and consumer expectations.
DS Smith Packaging Hungary developed an 8-box e-commerce packaging range for Webshippy that makes it possible to package a wide range of different products, as the boxes are:
• size optimised
• use less empty space filler material
• can be assembled simply and quickly
• strong
• have anti-theft protection
• contribute to the consumer experience.
Since DS Smith Packaging Hungary has designed boxes in 8 different sizes, Webshippy can cut costs significantly by having to use much less empty space filler. The boxes can be assembled quickly and customers can open them easily, without having to use any tool.
The product range has won Hungaropack’s Industrial Creativity Award.
