The processing sales price of chicken breast fillets is 12 percent lower than a year ago
According to data from the European Commission, poultry meat exports from the EU (EU27) increased by 12 percent to almost 690,000 tons between January and April 2024 compared to the same period of the previous year. The community’s poultry meat imports increased by 6 percent to 306,000 tons in the same comparison. More than half of the imports came from Brazil and Ukraine.

Based on data from the KSH, Hungary’s poultry meat exports increased by 4 percent to 72,000 tons in the first four months of 2024 compared to the same period in 2023. Within this, the export of chicken increased by 4 percent to almost 49,000 tons, and that of turkey increased by 28 percent to 8,000 tons. Hungary’s poultry meat imports decreased by 12 percent to 26,000 tons in the observed period. Within this, the delivery of chicken meat fell by 29 percent to 17 thousand tons, while that of turkey meat increased by 44 percent to 1.6 thousand tons. According to AKI PÁIR data, the live weight producer price of slaughter chickens in Hungary decreased by 18.4 percent to HUF 413.7/kg, and that of slaughter turkeys by 15.6 percent to HUF 592.7/kg in the first twenty-nine weeks of 2024 compared to the same period of the previous year. The processing selling price of chicken breast fillet is HUF 1,733.6/kilogram (-12.5 percent), bone-in chicken breast is HUF 1,132.3/kilogram (-17.9 percent), and the price of chicken breast (total) is HUF 1,705.8/kilogram (- 12.8 percent) in the observed period.
