The quantity of the Czech beer brewing decreased to the levels of the late 80s
Last year, 17.1 million hectoliters of beer was brewed in the Czech Republic. This is the smallest quantity, since 1989. Compared to 2009, an eight percent decrease occurred.
The result is still better than the previous estimates, which were about a 12 percent decline. The main reason for the decline is the gradually declining beer demand in the Czech Republic. Two years ago, in 2009, Czech beer production was still 18.6 million hectoliters, while the record was in 2007 with 19.9 million hectolitres. So far, the second weakest year was 1993, when only 17.8 million hectoliters of beer was brewed in the country – reports Népszabadság Online, after Hospodárské Noviny.
