Nearly seven out of ten adults in Hungary are overweight or obese, while a significant proportion of chronic diseases can be linked to poor nutrition and a sedentary lifestyle. However, change often begins not in the doctor’s office, but in the family kitchen. The Hungarian Dietitians’ Association (MDOSZ) has therefore expanded its “Women’s School” online education program with new content, which addresses those who do the most for their family’s health in everyday life by making conscious food choices and cooking.

The educational project is based on the Hungarian nutrition recommendations of OKOSTÁNYÉR® and focuses on three key areas: a balanced, varied diet, reducing excessive salt consumption, and the conscious use of sugars and sweeteners.

Of course, the program is not just for women, but the numbers show that in more than 90% of Hungarian households today, women are still responsible for purchasing food, compiling the menu, and preparing meals.

Health on the Plate – in plain language, tailored to everyday life

The “Women’s School 2025” program, newly created videos, recipe presentations, animated e-learning materials and infographics were created with the participation of Hungarian dietitians. This time, the goal was not to expand theoretical knowledge, but to put authentic information into practice. They would like to show how everything that OKOSTÁNYÉR® recommends can be easily and practically implemented in everyday cooking. Dietitians emphasize: there is no forbidden food for healthy people. The basis of a balanced diet is regularity, variety, the appropriate size of portions, and the relative proportion of each food group. One of the most important goals of the “Women’s School” educational and recipe videos is to embed these proportions into the daily eating routine without measuring, and to make it clear to everyone how to simply prepare a delicious and healthy lunch or dinner.

“Not just for women”

The “Women’s School – not just for women” program has been helping families make more conscious decisions about their diet since 2021. Thanks to the development of the “Women’s School 2025” program, the platform has been enriched with fresh, modern content, which is available in digital form, from anywhere. The videos are available on the program’s YouTube channel and the okostanyer.hu website, while shorter content is also published on social media. Feedback and achievements so far show that there is a great demand for practical advice and easy-to-prepare recipes.

The long-term goal: more healthy years

The aim of the “Women’s School” program is to contribute to a positive change in the population’s eating habits, and thereby reduce the risk of diet-related diseases. A healthy lifestyle is not about giving up, but about conscious choices and nutrition.

“It would be desirable if the population would also use the SMART TABLEWARE® in everyday life. Although the recommendation itself is self-explanatory, with this program we show how the principles can be simply incorporated into the preparation of meals so that they become a real routine. And I would like to introduce another aspect, the long-term change of perspective. Eating habits are already formed in childhood, and as adults we largely follow the pattern we saw at home as children. Therefore, the program also aims to do something for the health of future generations through everyday cooking and shared meals”

– emphasized Zsuzsanna Szűcs, President of MDOSZ.

The program therefore provides practical help for family meals based on proper nutritional principles. MDOSZ “Women’s School 2025” program, which was implemented with the support of the Government of Hungary.
