Citrus fruits aren’t vegan? Tesco seeks alternatives
Tesco has reacted to the claims that its lemons and oranges aren’t vegan-friendly: the retailer has recently revealed that its citrus fruits are coated with a wax called shellac – a resin made from the excretions of the lac bug. Tesco says the animal-based wax is used for a longer shelf life. Tesco is now seeking out plant-based alternatives to shellac, to make its citrus fruits vegan-friendly.
