The average yield of potatoes is 25 percent higher than in 2022
The sunflower harvest was almost completely completed by November, 99.9 percent of the sown area was harvested, and 2 million tons of sunflowers were harvested from a total of 676.1 thousand hectares. Nationally, the sunflower yield was around 3 tons/hectare. The lowest yield average was reported from the county of Csongrád-Csanád (2.5 t/ha), the highest from the county of Tolna (3.5 t/ha).
The potato harvest was 99.3 percent on November 12, with an average yield of 27.7 tons/hectare, 25 percent more than in 2022. The spread between the counties was very large, the lowest yield average was achieved in Tolna county (12.7 t/ha) and the highest in Komárom-Esztergom county (39 t/ha). Based on the NAK’s survey, the domestic corn production area in 2023 was around 746.3 thousand hectares, of which 704.3 thousand hectares, 94.4 percent of the total area, had been harvested by November 12. The average yield of 8.2 tons/hectare is almost two and a half times that of 2022.
So far, 5.8 million tons of corn have been harvested
In 2023, hybrid corn seed was produced on 25.1 thousand hectares, and by November 12, the harvest had taken place on 97.3 percent of the total area. The average yield was 3.7 tons/hectare, an increase of about 60 percent compared to last year.
The picking of autumn harvest fruits was nearing the end on the day of the report
The fruit grown in the largest volume, the apple, has an average yield of 23.7 tons/hectare, more than twice as much as last year’s value. It produced 9.2 tons of pears per hectare, the yield increased by 11.9 percent compared to the previous year.
