Bubbles break free
We asked András Csomay, marketing manager of Törley Sparkling Wine Cellar about trends, results and new products in the Hungarian sparkling wine market.
This article is available for reading in Trade magazin 2023/11.
“Although the bubbly market has declined in terms of volume sales owing to the economic environment, it has expanded in value. We closed 2022 with good results. As in previous years, tank method sparkling wines account for the biggest share of our sales, with a sweet product being our best-seller, but there is definitely a shift towards dry sparkling wines.
The growth of the prosecco category has slowed down a little, but fortunately our Mionetto’s performance hasn’t been influenced by this trend.
This year we introduced a special product to the Hungarian market, Törley ICE. ICE is a concept and category that started its conquest 12 years ago in France. Previously it would have been unthinkable to drink champagne with ice, which is why innovation and education are so important. Törley ICE is specifically designed to be poured over ice to complete the experience. We have targeted the product primarily at a younger demographic, but all age groups are embracing ICE sparkling wine”.
