The BKIK welcomes the Government’s decision to end the compulsory promotions required for shops from July 1
The Budapest Chamber of Commerce and Industry, in agreement with several professional organizations, has already recommended that the Government not extend its decree 162/2023 (V.5.) on the mandatory promotion valid until June 30, 2024, because its maintenance has become obsolete.
In justifying its proposal, the BKIK referred to the fact that the government’s anti-inflation intention, which served as the reason for the introduction of the mandatory campaign, has been realized, since inflation has been stable below 4% since January 2024.
BKIK noted that the effective operation of the introduced online price monitoring system can effectively and permanently maintain the competitive situation in the future, therefore it recommends that in the future the appearance in the online price monitoring system should also be supported for smaller shops, and the online price monitoring system offered its cooperation in its further development and promotion as a “positive brand”.
