Chocolate rabbit is the most popular
Easter confectionery sales amounted to HUF 4 billion and represented 940 tons in the three-month season last year. Like-for-like value sales surged by 12 percent and volume sales bettered by 3 percent. Egg and rabbit figure dominated, with rabbit taking back the number one position: it had a 41-percent share from value sales, while chocolate egg was at 39 percent. In the third position we find traditional and special Easter gift packs, with a combined share of 10 percent. 82 percent of products sold were milk chocolate figures, nougat products were at 9 percent and dark chocolate figures’ share was 5 percent. Hypermarkets realised 47 percent of value sales in the last two Easter periods. Discounters’ share grew from 22 to 26 percent
