Growers are ready for the melon season
On 15 June 2017 the Hungarian Association of Melon Growers and the representatives of retail chains met in Dunaharaszti, to discuss the forthcoming melon season. Balázs Győrffy, president of the Hungarian Chamber of Agriculture (NAK) informed that participants had the chance to learn about the latest news from Hungarian melon growing regions and from the international market. Hungarian melon growers are prepared to supply the domestic market and this year more melon will be exported than in previous years. Hungary is one of the biggest melons suppliers in Europe. About 120,000-150,000 tons of melon is sold in Hungary every year, per capita consumption is approximately 10-15kg. //
