SPAR Hungary has modernized three of its stores with a development worth more than 880 million forints. A SPAR supermarket in Zalaegerszeg, as well as a franchise store in Budapest and a franchise store in Gárdony, await customers with a renewed environment, expanded services and selection.

SPAR Hungary is continuously developing its store network in order to provide modern, convenient and fast shopping opportunities throughout the country. The investment, worth a total of 880 million forints, has now been implemented in three settlements – Budapest, Gárdony and Zalaegerszeg – and has contributed to improving the customer experience and energy efficiency.

“SPAR aims to serve customers with a stable presence and continuous development in every region. We believe that predictable operations, support for local communities and long-term investments not only create economic value, but also security and stability”

– said Márk Maczelka, Head of Communications at SPAR Hungary.

Budapest: SPAR market tuned to the rhythm of the city centre

The SPAR market store at Thököly út 8, 1076 Budapest, has been renovated with a 285 million forint development, where 66 employees await customers in the 193 square meter sales area. Upon entering the renovated store, customers are greeted by the fresh produce offering: the fruit and vegetable section has been moved directly to the entrance, complemented by refrigerators for dairy products, delicatessen and meat products. The bakery section is located in a clearly visible location from the main traffic direction, and with its fresh baked goods, it becomes one of the focal points of the store. Approaching the checkout zone, convenience products for quick meals, refrigerated ready-made meals and a self-service grill warmer are available. Payment is made smooth by two express checkouts and three newly installed self-service checkouts. The store has energy-saving LED lighting, and the modern heat pump system also contributes to energy-efficient operation during cooling, air conditioning and heating. The 14-person team of the renovated store ensures that customers are always greeted with a fresh range of products, an orderly sales area and the usual, friendly service.

Gárdony: modern shopping environment

The Balatoni út 70/10. The 694 square meter sales area of the SPAR partner store under number 111 was renovated with an investment of HUF 303 million. Fruits, vegetables and convenience products are located near the entrance, which are complemented by the self-service grill warmer and the wide range of baked goods in the renewed bakery section. From here, the self-service cheese, delicatessen and meat sections lead customers further towards dairy products. A clearly visible specials area in the central part of the store helps to quickly find discounted products. Payment is made at three traditional cash registers. The facade of the building has been refreshed, and the parking lot has been modernized: more comfortable, wider parking spaces have been created here. The REpont vending machine continues to operate in the store, located in the usual place, in the sales area. The renewed store provides jobs for 21 employees.

Zalaegerszeg: fresh selection and modern technology

The SPAR supermarket store at Göcseji út 35 has been renovated with a 292.5 million forint development, and 17 employees work in the store. In addition to the technical renovation of the 553 square meter sales area, the customer route has also changed: upon entering the store, the fresh goods areas – the fruit and vegetable section, fresh goods coolers and bakery – welcome visitors first, which is complemented by the service counter. As part of the renovation, a new self-service grill warmer has also been installed in the store, which expands the range with freshly prepared, hot grilled products. The new element offers customers a quick and convenient dining solution, further strengthening the store’s fresh goods selection and increasing the options available during everyday shopping. Two traditional and three self-service cash registers in the checkout zone ensure quick payment. The store features energy-saving LED lighting and an environmentally friendly, carbon dioxide-based refrigeration system, while refrigerators with doors reduce energy consumption. The REpoint connected to the store can be accessed from the parking lot through a separate entrance, and there is also a selective collection of non-returnable packaging.
