7,000 forint stuffed cabbage, 1,800 forint strudel – the prices at the Vörösmarty square Christmas market are brutal
In Budapest, the Vörösmarty square Christmas market has started its operation again this year, where, however, not only the Christmas atmosphere, but also the prices heat up the interest. Apparently, not only the lights and decorations shine at the event, but the hard prices have also appeared. Based on the videos shared on TikTok and Blikk’s on-site report, many service providers offer their services at very high prices.
For example, the price of lángos can reach HUF 4,500, while mangalica sausage and salmon steak can cost HUF 5,500 and HUF 7,900. One of the most popular and at the same time one of the most expensive dishes is the chicken paprikash, which can be taken home for no less than HUF 10,400. At this price, however, we also get apple peppers stuffed with sauerkraut. In addition, the menu includes stuffed cabbage for HUF 7,000, shaslik for HUF 5,000, and mutton for HUF 1,800, but they can even ask for HUF 400 to wrap the sweets.
The famous goulash cannot be missed at the event, which is available in a plastic bowl for HUF 4,500, but if someone wants to take the pot as a souvenir, it costs HUF 8,500. According to reports, tourists particularly like this option and often request this version.
