At the press conference titled Water conservation in the landscape is the most important national strategy, security policy and sovereignty protection issue, Imre Hubai spoke about how the MA has been paying serious attention to the establishment and support of sustainable water management communities together with the water sector for years. He added that farmers’ cooperation can do the most to ensure that an appropriate response to climate change is created through the development of irrigation and water conservation. The Secretary of State said that the next round of irrigation development applications will start on September 2, with a budget of 16.5 billion forints, with a maximum grant of 200 million forints. He added that farmers can apply so that sustainable water management communities, or even farmers engaged in individual irrigation activities, can implement their investments necessary for irrigation. He also announced that a call for applications will be published from September 4 with a budget of 2 billion forints, with a maximum grant of 75 million forints, which will provide sustainable water management communities with coverage for construction permits, planning or maintenance costs. After September 30, the next phase of the application to support complex investments within the agricultural holding to improve the efficiency of irrigation development and water use will come, with a total budget of 49.5 billion forints.
