HUF 59 billion in agricultural subsidies were received by farmers in one day
The payment of EU agricultural subsidies after 2022 is proceeding rapidly, as part of this, yesterday the Hungarian Treasury allocated HUF 59 billion to farmers under several legal titles, announced Zsolt Feldman.
The Secretary of State responsible for agriculture and rural development of the Ministry of Agriculture detailed: the Hungarian State Treasury paid out money to a total of more than 128,000 farmers – those applying for greening subsidies, those who grow industrial vegetables and grain protein crops – within one day. Among the beneficiaries were nearly 2,400 farmers growing industrial vegetables, for whom HUF 3.8 billion were paid, and about 2,400 farmers growing protein crops, who received HUF 4 billion in production-related subsidies. This form of support was created for sectors that are traditionally in a more difficult situation, and the production of soybeans, sweet corn or green peas is also a sector with high added value, requiring a high level of professional knowledge, important feed or food ingredients.
After HUF 322 billion disbursed in the last third of last year, payments to eligible producers will take place at an accelerated pace in 2023, as these liquidity-increasing subsidies play a key role in the current economic situation, emphasized the state secretary.
