The Borsodi Brewery turned 50 years old
The Borsodi Brewery started its operations fifty years ago, in April 1973. Since then, Borsodi Világos has become an important part of the domestic beer culture, one of the permanent companions of friendly domestic beer gatherings – it was announced at the festive press event of the Borsodi Brewery. According to the company’s experience, the trends that started before covid, the increasing demand for quality, special flavors and alcohol-free beers continued in the past year, which is also supported by the results of the Borsodi Brewery.
50 years ago, on April 5, 1973, the first bottle of Borsodi Világos rolled off the production line of the newly handed over brewery in Bőcsön. The brewery’s first product, with its pleasantly bitter taste and golden yellow color, has become one of the favorites of domestic consumers over the past five decades. The first bottle has since been followed by millions of hectoliters, and the Borsodi Brewery has turned from a factory serving local needs into the regional center of one of the world’s largest companies.
Continuous development was essential for the successful operation of the Borsodi Brewery for half a century, which contributed to the development of the domestic beer culture. The company is credited with introducing the first non-alcoholic beer in Hungary, and adapting to consumer needs, the brewery introduced one of the first flavored beers, Borsodi Friss. Many innovations in the field of packaging can also be attributed to Borsodi, as the brewery made aluminum cans available to consumers for the first time, as well as KEG keg packaging for restaurants.
