This year, the Solutions for Tomorrow Challenge, organized by Samsung and EdisonKids, celebrates its fifth anniversary in Hungary, and has since become one of the most important future-building initiatives for young people in Hungary. On the occasion of the anniversary, five key figures, mentors, teachers and experts share what this unique initiative means to them.

Over the past five years, the Solutions for Tomorrow Challenge has provided hundreds of young people with the opportunity to find solutions to real social and environmental problems through creative teamwork and expert mentoring. Students in grades 7-12 can develop through design thinking-based training, communication training led by Momentán Társulat or Péter Szerémi, and self-awareness sessions, while putting their interest in technology and empathy to work for a better world. The program is not only a defining experience for the students – it also has an important impact on the teachers and mentors who support them, both those who return from season to season and those who join this year. And the anniversary final and awards ceremony on May 30th is approaching – it will not only be a great competition, but also a celebration of connection, of a supportive and inspiring community that has been forming for 5 years.

5 thoughts, 5 years from now, from 5 participants:

Veronika Pistyur, founder of Bridge Budapest, jury member of the 2025 season:

“The Solutions for Tomorrow challenge is not just a competition for me, but an opportunity for young people to experience the impact they can have on the world. They not only come up with creative ideas, but also learn to ask questions, collaborate, make decisions and take responsibility. If we want a more conscious, proactive generation to grow up, we need to create spaces where these competencies can develop safely. That’s why we created EdisonKids – we believe that the decision-makers and shapers of the future are growing up today, and now we have the opportunity to influence the path they take with them.”

Fanni Gyarmati, co-founder and CEO of Diverzum, a returning mentor from season to season:

“I believe that the young people who dare to ask questions, think and take initiatives today will be the entrepreneurs of the future. They will want to solve problems in the world – and I am most happy to pass on my knowledge as a mentor to this end, as I also operate with the same mentality and ambition. I think the competition gives impetus to entrepreneurial students, it also develops the skills that really help to build a successful company from scratch – I am happy to be part of initiatives that focus on this. I expect the upcoming finals to give rise to new ideas and connections, ones that can later even live on in the form of business partnerships – I must add that the contestants are still very young. In the shorter term, I am simply waiting for the moment that happened last year: when I listen to the pitching teams and feel that: well, that’s why it’s worth doing this.”

Dr. Bertalan Meskó, futurologist, chief patron of the program:

“Over the past five years, as chief patron, I have received from the seasons that more and more students want to make the world and their own communities better with more and more well-thought-out ideas, and there is no greater reason than this to look optimistically into the future, into our future. In the finals, I believe that the category that is most exciting to me, Health, will soar, and many people will be inspired to maintain and improve their health.”
