450 tonnes less plastic in SPAR stores
Starting in August, only biodegradable bags will be offered in the vegetable and fruit departments of SPAR and INTERSPAR nationwide, so traditional single-use plastic bags will no longer be available in stores.
Nine SPAR and INTERSPAR stores in Tatabánya tested for four weeks from April 4, 2022, how customers would accept the new degradable bags, primarily suitable for packaging vegetables and fruits. Customers were also offered the opportunity to buy vegetables and fruits using their own packaging material or even without packaging.
