On average, young people spend HUF 40,000 during a festival, beer is priced between HUF 400-500
More than half of young people go to festivals with parental funds, typically 1-2 times a year, on which they spend an average of HUF 39,312 each, according to research commissioned by the organizers of the BME University Days. Based on the thousands of responses to the questionnaire, it can be stated that young people prefer to buy a pass, and that the most important elements are the atmosphere and the music on offer at a festival. As for consumption habits, after mineral water, the majority consumes concentrated drinks, followed by wine or fizzy drinks and beer. Most of the respondents would estimate the price of the latter between HUF 400-500. It also turned out that you have to pay the most for drinks at the counters at VOLT, Sziget and Balaton Sound.
Since most of the almost three thousand respondents are university students, it is not at all surprising that more than half of their resources come from their parents, and although the standard deviation was relatively large, most of them manage between HUF 50 and HUF 100 thousand per month, spending HUF 31,624 on entertainment on average during this time.
Regarding the specific festival habits, it can be said that the respondents go to 1-2 festivals per year, half to the same festival or to different festivals.
The participants of the research commissioned by the organizers of the BME University Days spend an average of 39,312 forints on a festival, which is almost eight thousand forints more than what they spend on average per month on entertainment. This is particularly interesting considering that nearly two-thirds of respondents consume alcohol at home or with friends as a “grounding” before the festival, and less than half of the respondents buy alcoholic beverages within the festival area as well.
According to 63.1 percent of the respondents, the amount of alcoholic beverages consumed is completely influenced by how much they can buy the drink at the festival. In the BME University Days Festival survey, they were also curious about how many forints the respondents thought the price of beer should be. The average was HUF 636, but most people would price it between HUF 400-500.
