The arable area increased by 32 thousand hectares compared to last year
The size of the agricultural area is 5 million 81 thousand hectares, almost 55 percent of the country’s area, the arable area increased by 32 thousand hectares in one year, according to the summary of June 1 – read the statement of the Central Statistical Office (KSH) summarizing the sown area.
45 percent of the country’s territory is arable land, which makes up 82 percent of the agricultural area. The remaining 15 percent were used as lawns, almost 3 percent were vineyards and orchards, and the area of crop cultivation under foil and greenhouses is approximately 2,000 hectares. In addition to oilseed crops, the largest part of the sowing structure is made up of cereals, their proportion has even increased in the last 3 years, while that of industrial crops and fodder crops has decreased, as well as vegetables, among which sweet corn and green peas have the largest sowing area, in third place the fennel stands. Based on the production area, apples, cherries, walnuts and elderberries are the leading fruits, they wrote.
The proportion of cultivation branches has not changed significantly in the last 10 years
The change is mainly in aged vines and uncultivated ones it can be explained by kitchen gardens, as well as by abandoned or broken up lawn areas. In accordance with the characteristics of the growing area, the agricultural area is concentrated in the Alföld, within which organic cultivation covers 5.8 percent, i.e. 293.6 thousand hectares. 61 percent of this is meadow and pasture, 31 percent is arable land – read the summary of the KSH.
