Auchan customers collected 32 and a half tons of donations for the Hungarian Red Cross
The Hungarian Red Cross was able to collect a record amount of donations, almost double that of last year, in Auchan stores. During the first two weekends of Advent, Auchan customers donated 32.5 tons of durable food, cleaning and cleaning products, and Christmas sweets to the largest charity organization in our country, so that they could help those who live in need before the holidays. And Auchan supported the fundraising campaign with an additional HUF 1 million, from which the organization can purchase the products deemed most necessary, of which less was received.
In the collection called “A package of love”, 29 tons of food, almost 2 tons of sweets, 1 ton of drugstore products and half a ton of other useful offerings arrived at the Auchan collection points thanks to the social sensitivity and generosity of the customers in just two Advent weekends. There was someone who pushed a shopping cart filled with HUF 100,000 worth of products to the collection point, he was thanked for his help in the same way as someone who contributed to the successful collection with a bottle of cooking oil or a kilo of flour. 250 Red Cross employees and nearly 600 volunteers took part in the work, not to mention the effective contribution of Auchan employees. Collecting and sorting the donations took around 4,000 working hours. The packages are distributed by the Hungarian Red Cross, which has a nationwide network, through its county organizations that are well aware of local needs.
