The price of corn seed rose by 30 percent
Maize was grown on 28,327 hectares in 2022, which showed a 10 percent decrease in area compared to the previous period. 93,718 tons of metal were locked using 335 types. Of these, 4 varieties were super-elite, 48 were elite, while 286 varieties had HF1 breeding grade.
The largest proportion of corn seed was produced in the counties of Jász-Nagykun-Szolnok and Békés. End users paid an average of HUF 2,749,000 for 1 ton of hybrid corn seed in the spring of 2023, 30 percent more than a year earlier. In the spring of 2023, 19.5 thousand tons of hybrid seeds were delivered to farmers as raw material for commodity crops based on the reports.
Sunflowers were produced on 2,530 hectares in 2022, an area one and a half percent larger than in 2021
Two-thirds of the total area is located in the southern Transdanubian region. During the breeding, the producers used 25 varieties, and within these, the varieties primarily had reproduction grade I, the elite and super-elite grades did not even reach half a hectare. Of the varieties used, 5 were state certified. The average selling price of one ton of sunflower hybrids was HUF 7,715,000 in 2023, which represented an increase of nearly 14 percent compared to the previous year.
Autumn cabbage rape was produced in 1980 hectares of propagation area in 2022
4,546 tons of raw materials were used for metal locking. End users paid an average of HUF 12,401,000 for one ton of autumn cabbage-rape hybrid in the fall of 2022, 29 percent more than a year earlier.
