Kellogg reports profit grow by 3 million US in Q4
For the year-ending quarter, profit rose to $179m , compared to $176m last year. The company estimated that it lost 1 percentage point of market share in the US cereal market in the fourth quarter.
Sales were up 5% to $2.93bn, but
excluding the impact of the stronger dollar, as well as an extra week
in the quarter and acquisitions, sales rose 3%. The world's largest
cereal maker, has warned that profit in 2009 may be hurt by the
stronger US dollar. Commodity costs to rise by 4 to 5% in 2009, but
noted that this will be well below the 10% rise it saw in 2008.
