Caffè Vergnano and Félegyházi Családi Pékség are developing breakfast culture in a HUF 280 billion market
Caffè Vergnano, the premium Italian coffee brand exclusively distributed by Coca-Cola HBC Hungary, and Félegyházi Family Bakery held a joint press event at the Budapart Piknikség in Budapest as part of the recently announced collaboration. The participants of the event presented the partnership of the two companies and the participants could taste the seasonal pastry and coffee specialties of the autumn and winter period. The Hungarian baking industry market, worth HUF 280 billion, has great development potential, and the two companies are now jointly promoting the breakfast culture.
In line with the business strategy of Coca-Cola HBC Hungary, which exclusively distributes the premium Italian coffee brand Caffè Vergnano, it strives to be able to offer its customer partners and, through them, consumers, a suitable product for all consumption occasions. In October 2021, the company’s parent company bought a 30% stake in the family-owned Casa del Caffè Vergnano company, and since January 2022, it has been distributing Caffè Vergnano’s premium Italian coffee products in Hungary in around 500 restaurants across the country.
An outstanding milestone of the brand’s domestic presence is the collaboration announced a few weeks ago with the Félegyházi Family Bakery, so the 100 percent Hungarian-owned bakery company has become the largest catering partner of the Coca-Cola HBC group of companies present in 29 countries, selling Caffè Vergnano.
The Félegyházi Family Bakery, which has been operating since 1999, currently employs more than 1,400 people, has 90 of its own stores, and supplies its 400 partners – including retail chains, catering companies and the Hungarian Armed Forces – with fresh baked goods every day.
In order to increase its productivity, Félegyházi Családi Pékség is implementing a HUF ten billion green field investment in Kiskunfélegyháza, which will include the construction of a warehouse, a production area with several lines, an automated and robotic refrigerated packaging and a frozen warehouse with 5,000 pallets. The development will create 200 new jobs in the city.
Félegyházi has a 10 percent share of the roughly HUF 280 billion turnover of the Hungarian bakery industry, and its revenue reached HUF 30 billion in 2023, making it the largest Hungarian-owned bakery network in the fresh and frozen bakery market. Every year, 35,000 tons of products roll off the production lines of Félegyházi, and by the end of 2024, it is expected that 320 million products will be produced in the company’s factory in Kiskunfélegyháza. In addition to large-scale production, the Félegyházi Family Bakery, which nurtures artisanal traditions, has 40-45 thousand customers visiting its own shops on a daily basis, and more and more people are getting to know the coffee specialties of Caffè Vergnano.
